What is a podcast?

A podcast is an mp3 or video file that can be downloaded and played on a computer or portable media device. Individual podcasts appear as episodes that are updated periodically. By subscribing to our podcast you can receive automatic updates. You can also listen to podcast episodes on this page. To subscribe, you must have podcasting software installed on your computer such as iTunes or Juice. For more information, see the iTunes Podcast FAQ.

How do I listen to a podcast?

If you would like to listen to our podcast right away you can hear a sample by clicking on the "play" button above. If you would like to play the podcast later or take it on the road, you will first need to subscribe to and download the podcast using the subscription software on your computer, such as iTunes. Then you will have to transfer the podcast file to your portable media device. We recommend the following subscription software for the best user experience:

• Ellen Kamhi, PhD, RN, interviews Natural Standard CEO and Chief Editor Dr. Catherine Ulbricht. Dr. Ulbricht also serves as Senior Attending Pharmacist at Massachusetts General Hospital and as Assistant Clinical Professor at multiple universities. She serves on the Editorial Board of Harvard Health Publications, the Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association, the Journal of Cancer Integrative Medicine, Pharmacy Practice News and many others. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Dietary Supplements and is experienced in quality improvement, healthcare informatics, clinical trial protocol analysis and drug therapy decision-support. Dr. Ulbricht earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Heath Sciences in Boston. Dr. Ulbricht has also been trained in physical therapy and chiropractic care.

  In the interviews, she discusses her new book: Natural Standard Herbal Pharmacotherapy: An Evidence-Based Approach. The book is based on Natural Standard’s online database, an evidence-based resource for clinicians and consumers to learn about integrative therapies, along with drug nutrient depletion and herb drug interaction details.
