Alfalfa Recall |
|
Caldwell Fresh Foods is voluntarily recalling all of its alfalfa sprouts, which are marketed as Nature's Choice® and California Exotics® brands.
The sprouts have been linked to a Salmonella outbreak in 10 states. So far, at least 22 cases of Salmonella have been reported in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon and Wisconsin. Six people have been hospitalized.
Salmonella is a bacterial infection of the intestines that typically causes fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. In people with poor underlying health or weakened immune systems, the bacterium may invade the bloodstream and cause a life-threatening infection.
